Commercial Electrical Upgrade & Kitchen Conversion – Soho, London (W1)
Project: House of St Bart’s
Location: 1 Greek Street, Soho, London
Completed: March 2025
Project Lead: Glen Flavell
The Challenge
House of St Bart’s, a busy charity venue in the heart of Soho, required a complete upgrade of its electrical infrastructure alongside a full transition from gas to electric in the kitchen.
The key challenge was time.
Due to operational demands, the client could only shut down for a single weekend, leaving less than 48 hours to complete the entire installation and have the building fully operational again.
Additional constraints included:
- Limited access in a central London location
- Tight internal working spaces within the kitchen
- Coordination with utility providers for supply upgrades
- High pressure to avoid delays impacting reopening
Our Solution
TFP managed the project from initial design through to final installation, with over 12 months of planning and coordination leading up to the works.
Led by Glen Flavell, the team executed a tightly scheduled installation, delivering:
- Installation of a new 400amp incoming electrical supply
- Relocation of the existing meter position
- Installation of a new 400amp isolator and MCCB panel
- Full upgrade of electrical distribution throughout the kitchen
- Safe removal of gas systems and integration of new electric equipment
All works were carefully sequenced to maximise efficiency within the restricted timeframe, ensuring every stage was completed without delay.
The Result
- Full electrical upgrade and kitchen conversion completed in under 48 hours
- Zero disruption beyond the planned shutdown window
- Improved safety with full removal of gas infrastructure
- Increased electrical capacity to support modern commercial kitchen demands
Despite the logistical challenges of working in Soho, TFP delivered a fully operational system ready for immediate use, demonstrating the ability to execute complex projects under extreme time pressure.
FAQs (House of St Bart’s Soho Case Study)
Most commercial electrical upgrades take several days or weeks depending on complexity. At House of St Bart’s in Soho (W1), TFP completed a full 400amp upgrade and kitchen conversion in under 48 hours through detailed pre-planning and coordinated execution.
